A Site in Motion

A lot is currently changing at our headquarters in Kleinheubach, both visibly and behind the scenes. Areas are being prepared, machines are being relocated, production halls are expanding, and state of the art technology is being introduced. With every phase of construction, the new setup of our furniture production is taking shape.

All of these measures have one shared objective. REINHOLD KELLER is further developing the site and creating the foundation for the challenges of the years ahead. But this expansion is about more than construction. Processes throughout production are also being reorganized and better aligned with one another.

More Space for Our Production

Our furniture production is growing and requires additional space. The existing production hall is being expanded, and the new area will be integrated into the future overall layout.

The expanded machinery setup is also changing how the existing production halls are used. Work areas are being relocated, spaces are taking on new functions, and internal routes are being reorganized. The extension will also provide additional workstations designed according to Lean principles. Shorter distances and clearly structured processes are intended to make day to day production more efficient.

Technology for the Next Step

The expansion also includes a modernized machinery setup. New CNC machining centers and automated systems are partially replacing existing equipment and taking over recurring process steps.

This improves machining quality, process reliability, and equipment availability throughout production. Automation and skilled craftsmanship complement each other. While modern systems support individual processes, the experience, commitment to quality, and craftsmanship of our #TEAMRK remain an integral part of our furniture production. Final assembly is also being incorporated into the revised production processes.

SHORTER DISTANCES, CLEARER PROCESSES

When machines and work areas change, the material flow has to adapt as well. Internal traffic routes, material staging, and in house logistics are therefore being better coordinated.

An important part of this is the newly planned sorting and buffer system. Manufactured components can be collected, sorted, and staged there for the next production steps. This helps reduce existing bottlenecks and improves transitions between individual stages of production.

Digital processes support these workflows and provide greater transparency throughout production.

ENERGY AND INFRASTRUCTURE ARE GROWING TOO

More technology and additional building space also create new infrastructure requirements. As part of the expansion, the existing dust extraction system is being modified.

The new configuration is designed to reduce energy consumption and noise levels. The heating distribution system is also being expanded to ensure a reliable supply to the new building extension.

The production expansion therefore goes far beyond new machinery and additional square footage. Numerous technical systems behind the scenes are also being adapted to meet the new requirements.

Expansion During Ongoing Production

Construction is taking place while production remains fully operational. While areas are being prepared or machines relocated in one part of the facility, furniture for our current interior fit out projects continues to be produced just a few feet away without interruption.

Floors are being refurbished, foundations and structural supports are being installed, and technical lines are being rerouted. Electrical systems, compressed air, and dust extraction are all being adapted to the new layout.

To keep day to day production running, the expansion has been divided into several construction phases. Once one area has been prepared, the next step follows. In this way, the new structure is gradually being integrated into the existing site.

As a family owned company, we have been based in this region for 150 years and are now in our sixth generation. This connection is our foundation and will remain so, even as much around us continues to evolve.
