A staircase for small big steps

Lebenshilfe Miltenberg

Many pieces are created in our training workshop – but some stay particularly memorable. Recently, our apprentices crafted a therapeutic staircase for Lebenshilfe Miltenberg. Set up on-site, it is now part of early intervention for children with disabilities. A small contribution that makes a real difference in the daily work of the facility – functional, well-thought-out, and crafted with great care.

WHEN STEPS BECOME PROGRESS

The therapeutic staircase will now be used specifically in motor skill development. It helps train movements such as safely climbing stairs, maintaining balance, and controlled load-bearing. It provides children with valuable practice for everyday movements while also supporting therapists in making progress visible. From planning to installation, it was a true team effort – carried out with the craftsmanship and experience of our trainers and apprentices in the #TEAMRK. The result is a tool that complements therapeutic work on-site in a simple, practical, and sustainable way.

BECAUSE EVERY BEGINNING NEEDS SUPPORT

During the handover, Barbara Schmitt from Lebenshilfe Miltenberg provided our #TEAMRK with an insight into the daily work of the organization – particularly in the field of early intervention, which is a first crucial step for many families. Here, children from infancy to toddler age are individually supported to identify and address developmental delays early on.

The focus is on promoting fundamental skills, from motor skills and perception to language and social behavior. The goal is to strengthen the development, abilities, and self-esteem of the children – always in close collaboration with the parents, who are actively involved and advised.

In addition to these targeted measures, Lebenshilfe is characterized by a high level of expertise, social commitment, and a clear stance: inclusion must be lived in all areas of life – through participation, the removal of barriers, and the continuous development of services, even with changing needs or funding structures.

A SAFE FRAMEWORK FOR FAMILIES

The comprehensive services are funded by cost bearers – for the families, this means no additional costs. This not only provides relief in daily life but also ensures equality of opportunity and fair access. Regardless of origin or income, children can receive the support they need for their development.
